Tune-up with Webers
1973 911T MFI that has been converted to Weber 40s/IDAs for use as daily driver. I am doing a tuneup. What spark plugs should I use for this application? Also, can I use the less expensive fuel filter for the earlier carb cars, or do I still need the expensive MFI fuel filter?
Thanks!

I use Bosch Platinum WR8DP on my 2.4 with Webers. They work well. You need a hot plug. Don't try using the OEM spec plug for MFI-- it's way too cold. You can use a generic fuel filter, however, one secret to Weber longevity is feeding those carbs clean gas. I don't know what the specs are on the OEM filter, but it has a lot of surface area and I suspect that it filters very well. I retained my MFI filter when I converted to Webers. At $50 a filter element, I'm now begining to consider alternatives. Racor makes some very good filters with reasonably priced elements. http://www.parker.com/parkersql/default.asp?type=2&id=27 Good luck.

Clean gas is super-important with Weber or PMO carbs. I run mine through a Racor filter intended for diesel trucks and then two conventional-in-line filters mounted just upstream of each carb's inlet rail.
