Throttle linkage question.

I'm trying to remove the cup from the linkage on the transaxle pivot part of the linkage. That ball just won't come out! Is there a trick?
Thanks.

Try using an 8mm open wrench, wedged behind the ball to pop it off.

Depending on the year, there MAY be a spring clip holding it on. My 81 doesn't but I have seen this on later year cars.

Mines a 77 but it has me wondering. The metal is bending with torque and I don't want to weaken it. Shouldn't I see the clip from outside if there is one?
Thanks.

I have replaced the original cup on my car with a replacement cup. The original cup had no clip, but the replacement has. The clip is very small and is not visible if the cup is not very clean.
