How to Separate Front Blower Motor from Fan
I have the front blower and fan out of the car (77S).
1. In order to remove the motor from the plastic fan do I just support the fan from below and tap on the shaft that protrudes about an eighth of an inch? Is it merely a friction fit? 2. When I replace the motor should I epoxy the shaft in place or should there be enough friction left to hold it tight? 3. What is the purpose of the degrees marked on the fan? Thanks!

I replaced the motor fan as a unit because I think (theory only) that the fan is balanced with the motor.
As far as your questions, I think no epoxy, its likely it will not stick. #3 Dont know, but I saw that too when I had mine out and thought it was used as a reference for the balancing.

That's what I thought about the numbers,too, George. Unfortunately I already removed the clips holding the motor in position so I've lost the reference
![]() I've found another thread in which it appears that tapping from the top is the way to go, maybe with the help of a little WD40. Just looking for confirmation. EDIT: Shaft tapped/drifted out. Came out easily with aid of a WD40 spritz.

Bosch motors from PP or other P parts suppliers.Reasonable.
Paul, I was impressed with the beautiful airfoil used in the blower, I fly model gliders and it was worthy of a glider wing. Maybe you noticed also.

Our host has them for about $100. I thought I had seen somewhere replacement brushes but when i looked recently I couldn't find any online. George, Yes, I noticed. It is quite elegant. I only wish it was able to get more air into the cabin! LOL!

You might as well get the motor/fan assembly complete from pelican, as the little clips are part of the balancing procedure, and its also a lot easier to just swap in the whole thing. While you are at it, look at the flappers - mine were crumbling and easy to fabricate new ones while you are there.

I'm assuming you only had to redo the foam part. Where did you get the foam or what type was it, and what did you use to bond it to the metal disks?

I used red silicone foam rubber, about 1/4 or 3/16 thick cut in circle.....no glue, its sandwiched between two metal discs.
Right about the exquisite fan, LOL, ....

I used the white closed-cell foam sold as backing for wall outlet plates, from Home Depot, etc. It is the right size to cut into circles and 2 discs sandwiched between the metal discs, same as ganun, work perfectly. It looked durable. No problem so far.

My foam was still in good shape so I just cleaned it and put it back. New motor is mated to fan and reinstalled. Works great!

How do you get the fan with motor out of the housing. I can spin it but cant grt it out?

I can't remember, but think I may have just removed the 4 spring steel retaining clips, one of which is circled in this pic. did you try that? ![]()

Yes, snap off the spring clips. Then the black plastic framework will slip off. Just did it on my 914.
