What's the best way to eliminate wind noise from doors

The previous owner of my car painted the car and the interior has been recovered. The interior was done very well but I have enormous wind noise coming from the doors which I can eliminate if I put a towel on the top of the door panel.

I've checked and all the rubber plugs are intact and I finally pulled out one of the door panels (just a tad) and I see that there is none of the plastic sealing that you would see on a new car.

My questions: Where would I get that plastic door sealer material? Would it be better to use something like dynamat (even though) it's heaver than the plastic.

Any advice would be great.

you can use any plastic sheeting if you cut it to fit (and save $33)

for more noise isolation (but some add'l wt.) use any car stereo product made to go in that spot

Cascade Audio makes one

Get a Targa, pop the top, and drive. You won't notice window noise.

Driving a cab (top down) in the rain is probably more annoying than a coupe in the rain with a little wind noise. I generally drive with the windows down but ocassionaly need to role them up.

I find driving slow greatly reduces the amount of wind noise.

Get an m&k muffler and your wind noise will disappear.

Most of the time wind noise is caused by the rushing air creating a vacuum and causing a sucking sound in certain places around your rubber door seals. I've never heard of it making noise from inside the door, but I guess I can't say it can't happen. If the noise stops when you seal the top of the door panel (and I'm assuming at the base of the window while it's up and sealing off the space between there and the top of the door panel trim), you can unscrew the door lock knob and the screws on the front & back of the black trim piece on the top of the panel & try inserting something like some sort of foam in there to see if you can stop it. Have you tried holding something like a piece of thread or something similar along the place where the towel seals it off to see if you can tell where the air is exiting/entering? If air is being sucked in there, it would cause noise. Most of the time you just have to be tenacious in trying to solve these kinds of things.

Talking wind

Wind noise is as irritable as hell.

I had a truck that howled at 50 mph, at 60 mph, I noticed the pitch change. So I tried it a 70 mph.

Again the pitch increased. So I pushed harder on the pedal. The sound kept rising in pitch as my speed increased until it passed of of human hearing range

Well I thought , great I've ended the irritation.

Then a new irritation.

I started see theses flashing red lights!!!!!!!

Porsche made some small changes to the sealing of the doors over the years, to reduce wind noise. I think they are addressed in the service bulletins. I think there were 3 things.

Yes, you need the rain shield plastic between door shell and door panel.

From owner comments over the past 30 years, wind noise isn't caused by the above sheet. Something around the periphery of the door; some say the drain holes at the bottom of the door or .....................? but I don't know the true solution.

I sense that one can source various thicknesses, as to the door cover plastic sheet.......extra thickness would help here...serious deadening is another discussion.

Best,
