Rear Wheel Bearing Q

86 Carrera

not the normal bearing noise, only a grinding when loaded (turning) - found the rear wheel to be loose and getting looser by the day, stopped driving and pulled it apart

so

does the bearing come out in pieces normally? center 1/2 stayed on hub, then the other half fell out the other side.

I found that rather strange - i will post a pick but right now my arms only have limited strength and it's either hold this beer or that camera,....

Ed, we did an exceptional thread years ago on the rear bearing. It has all that you'll need to know. Let me know if you need to borrow any tools and I'll mail em to ya.

Well, I have FAG bearings and Tools ready to go. Dreading this task but I know it has to be done to get rid of that popping noise every time I turn the corner

Ed, just pull the outer race off with a split bearing puller. Hub will be fine. Jim, I have the puller. Makes it a quick job.

Oh Damn!

I better get to mine ASAP as not to wear in the HUB, like yours. Damn.

I have feeling all the "popping" has done her in :-(

Let me as some of my contacts for you to see if they have a couple of known good used ones. No promises, but I will do my best

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Hey Russnak,

Well, maybe some Equadorian Carne Asada, Lentil, Spanish Rice, Plantains and side of Ahi ( not the fish, South American Salsa )

Jim
