I keep digging deeper holes with my Carerra......

When I rebuilt my turbo'd 3.2 (3.4 P&C's), I installed two rocker shafts opposite the right orientation (the ones next to the chain housings) because I couldn't get my allen wrenches in properly to tighten. My intention was to modify my tools at a later time and swap the shafts around. I still haven't got to it due to all of the other things below.

Then, I started having my Motronic issues right before the 500-mile mark (my magic break-in number) that I haven't resolved.

This has been my biggest headache!!!

While waiting for more parts to throw at the FI problem, I decided my cooling fan looked horrible and needed the red paint removed due to a bunch of unsightly chips and now I had time to do it.

During removal, I managed to scratch the housing on the engine crossbar while removing. Lovely......

So, I bought some paint stripper yesterday and started on the fan. Paint came right off with 2 coats and I've had this bulge in my fan for awhile I wanted take care of in the manner of a piece of wood and a hammer.

I then wacked the fan and the bulge didn't go anywhere. Hmmm, "hit it harder I thought". Wham! I hit it again with more force. Hmmmm, didn't move again.

Aw crap, the fan cracked!!! It is about an inch long. Damn magnesium!

Ok, this sucks, might as well move on to stripping the fan housing because I am dead in the water with the fan. So I did and things didn't get much better or easier.

I put nearly 4 coats of the paint stripper on the housing and it took 2 coats alone to remove the paint (some tough stuff, must have been baked) but the last 2 coats did nearly nothing to the primer.

Argh. It is going to take some major sanding or media blasting to get the primer off.......

I bet the parts will come before I get the fan and housing repainted and put back on.

Sometimes I feel my car is cursed.........I just want to drive it again.........

The bulge in the fan was probably indication of a problem. Magnesium oxidizes from the inside out. So it builds like a cancer and causes the metal to bulge and eventually crack. I've still go my old fan and housing that I replaced that are full of bulges and cracks.

Yep, I see it in one of the blades and inside the where the lightening holes are drilled.
