Any issues with using a tow dolly?
Hi, I was just wondering if any one has experience towing a 911 with a tow dolly with the front tires on the ground?

Used one for years towing my DE 911SC all over the place. Front with air dam is pretty low and best to avoid truck tire treads and dead skunks. Go the speed limit.
Hints. I put the 6's on the back and the 7's on the front. My fenders were rolled. I modified my dolly to take tie downs. Use boards. Rear end on the dolly. Mirrors tend to give way to reverse air pressure. I don't put it in gear nor put the emergency brake on. Key out of the ignition and wheel locked. If your wheel bearings are good for forward they are good for reverse! ![]()

I tow dollied my 911 to tracks for two years...some 6 or seven hours away. Towed forward, not reverse since it had an IROC wing. Figured the drag of spinning the diff was less than a wing in reverse air drag. Installed the 60 series "rain" tires and threw the stickies in the trunk of the 70's Chrysler New Yorker.
Good luck! |
