Oil Weight Question

It's oil change time again...I currently run Brad Penn 20W50.

I drive my '86 911 year-round, weather permitting. In the winter I only take her out on dry roads on days above freezing.

Would you recommend I stick with 20W50 or put in something a bit lighter for the cold weather?

Thanks!

Ray!!!

how cold does it get in ELKSNOUT ?
I run BP year round without issue and we get into the teens (that on the plus side of zero)

good luck with the fire storm

Hi Ed!

I live just down the road from Elksnout in East Goatwhistle...

Thanks for the shout-out. I still lurk on RL but it's been quiet there for awhile. Get Amar to take some more pretty pictures!

My 10 cents worth: I have been driving Porsches for about 30 years, starting with a 356B in 1968. All my Porsches were daily drivers, both in summers and, for skiing, in winters. I consistently used 10-30W oils in Winter with no problems, even here in SoCal.

About 40 years for me and always use 10w30...no problems too. I do enjoy reading all the oil threads though...

Here's what the factory recommends for an eighties Carrera...
