CT Pelican tool request (p265c)

Hello everyone,

I'm in need of the p265c tool for placing the seal, where the CV meets the 915 transmission, at the proper depth and location. I've attached a pic. I didn't see it for sale on Pelican so if anyone in CT or nearby has one I can borrow I'd appreciate it. I'm willing to pick up and exchange for the appropriate amount of beverage or $.

Thanks,

Pat

Piece of suitable diameter PVC pipe (can't recall if it was 2-1/2" or 3") with a flat cap on it. Drill a hole in the cap. Pass a length of M10 threaded rod thru to the differential. Slip the PVC "press tool" over the threaded rod. Use a nut and washer on the threaded rod to push the seal in.

OR

Use a seal driver tool like the Lisle brand used for setting replacement front wheel bearing races Lisle Corporation

I can post a picture of either if you like

Kevin,

Thanks. A pic of 1 would be helpful. is there not the risk of pressing it in too far with the PVC tool?

Pat,

Sorry I forgot to respond to this. Here's the pictures.

You can see the PVC pieces are a union and a flat top cap. I used a large length of threaded rod and a metric bolt. The metric end connects to the differential and the other end does the pressing when you put a nut and large washer on it.

You do indeed have to be careful to not press the new seal in too deep. Press it in until its flush and you're done. I can't recall if the PVC union I used is larger than the bore or not. So watch closely as you're moving the seal into the trans housing. If it was slightly larger than the trans housing bore, it would automatically stop when the seal is flush.

Thanks Kevin, I see what you've done with this. I'll give it a shot.
