930 rotor confusion
Hi, I have a rear rotor on a 87, 930 part # 930 352 046 01. It is my understanding that these are 28mm rotors. I measure 27.5 mm so all is well except the rotor itself reads MIN TH 1,20.5'' http://forums.pelicanparts.com/ultimate/rolleyes.gif I have pics attached. If this means 1.205" then that converts to 30mm. Has anyone run in to this before?

Thanks Bill for the quick reply. I feel better now. Why the confusing numbers in what seems to be inches? The last thing I expected.
Thanks Clarence

it looks like the manufacturer got confused and put the front min spec on the rear rotor, the late('81-89) front rotors look similar to the rears but are 32mm thick w/ a min. symmetric machined thickness of 30.6mm, 30mm wear limit

Makes you wonder if that is a part made by an OEM supplier, or a knock-off part made by who-knows-who... It's hard to belive that a company like ATE, Brembo, etc. would make such a mistake.

Thanks, it doesn't show in my pics but the numbers are preceded by what seems to be a Porsche symbol, an inverted triangular shape with a "p" inside which I have seen before.

JR While I agree the risk grows as the manufacturer becomes more obscure it is far from the case that well known OEM suppliers are 'perfect' in their execution. |
