Porsche Crest Anybody [else] like to kick themselves over this 'H4' auction?

I thought this one had a reserve price ... and it sure didn't look like it was going high enough ... a couple of hours ago! Too many auctions ... too little time!

If you are really strapped for cash, it might be an okay deal, but I wouldn't call it great. They are used, need new bulbs, etc. But if you have a few dollars more, there are brand new sets of H4's that sell on eBay for around $200 all the time. I'd just put out the bucks for the new ones, especially since you don't know how battered the trim rings or lenses really are on these.

radcon ... look a little closer at the pic ... hint, hint ... 4 adjustment screws don't equal H4's! Now, tell me where you are going to get a set of NEW H1's???

Oh, MY....but Warren, who would want H-1's, when they could buy new H-4's, then put on a pair of "yeller" H-1 Lenses for that cool French look? (told you guys I was weird tonight...)

With new lenses ... they WOULD have made a nice set of spares, wouldn't they, Paul? You just never know when soccer mom in her SUV or minvan is going to take a bead ... backing up into your UNOBTAINABLE H1's, do you?

What is considered a reasonable price for used H-1's anyway? I seem some large ranges in sets that have come up for sale.

Regards,

ouch -- hey, who kicked me?

good eye, Warren. The picture is a great kicker. Although i think I saw a bit of tarnish on the unobtainium parts.

Other than being harder to find, are H1s really better than H4's?

I've had both over the years on various 911s, and to be honest, I've like the H4s better overall. Call me nuts.

I feel sick . . .

Thank you Warren for making me feel a bit ill this evening!!!!

Shhheit, I would have bought those suckers in a second had I been more observant.

I have come across another hidden gem on eBay . . . but I am not talking.

Best to you,

Kurt

Caveat ebayers,

Now do you really think that this guy believes that he has H-4's! Probably not, my guess is he is misrepresenting them. Why do I think so, read the neutral and negative ratings he has. I bought a set of "H4 Porsche Headlights" from some guy last year and when I got them they were tapered bezel SC with H4 lenses and bulbs? Go figure, a Euro aftermarket product?

I buy and sell a lot of stuff on eBay and have learned ... DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM A SELLER WITH NEGATIVE FEEDBACK-PERIOD! I don't care how good the deal is, I've been screwed to many times. IMHO - (but I'm right).

I'm sorry, I didn't look that closely at the pic. But you never know if that is the pic of the actual lights he is selling or not. It seems like he would know what he is selling since he sells a lot of P parts on eBay. Maybe he just "accidentally" put that pic of the H1s in there to make someone think they had a real find and would bid them up more than they would normally pay for a used set of H4s. Maybe not. I guess you could always contact the buyer and see if he would be willing to sell them at a small profit. Maybe he doesn't know what he got either. Wait...........that doesn't sound very ethical, does it? By the way, I have a brand new H1 lense in the original box that I got with a box of miscellaneous parts I bought awhile back. If anyones's interested, just email me.

Damn...I saw that last night and thought well, I've got H1's on the 911, H4's on the 912...let's see what happens. I was going to check it out today but never got the chance. Ahh...we'll get 'em next time.

Good eye Warren!

Paul... I've got a set of them "yellers" around here some'ers. Now where's that beret?

I too would like to know the significance of H1s - I have them on the 69 and H4s on the 75, and I can tell them apart but I have to look closely...

And I see no benefit in daily use.

So why are they so sought after - is it purely for wank value (which I understand)?

Do they offer any performance advantage at all?

I'm just piqued at the thought of getting french lenses for my H4's....Those, on a white 911, are just too cool. Not sure how they'd look on my Minerva blue coupe though, but I'm wIlling to give it a whirl.

where, how much, how easy are they to install?
