Need ignition key code

My kids got me one of those cool Porsche emblem keys. My only key works but is 25 years old and well worn. I hate to make a $60 copy that starts out "worn".
The key seller said I can get the original factory codes / numbers for the ignition key and he can make a perfect original cut from those numbers.

Any advice on how to get the necessary code?

I could really use this info too. My key operates everything but the lock on my glove box, because the key is just too worn down.

BTW, I'd also like the info on how to show my join date as 1969. I've only seen it done once before, and I subscribe to another site where I'd really like to piss 'em off.

It helps if you are a contortionist. If the tag is still there, it will be on the back side of the ignition lock. You have to look up from under the dash at the lock assembly. It will be on the part that goes over to the steering column and on the part facing the dash itself.
If you are really lucky, you can read it backwards with a mirror.
It's a white tag that is about 1/2 x 1" and will have 4 numbers on it.

Absent that, pull your left door handle and take it to the lock smith.
Any good lock smith can pull the tumblers and know what the cuts are.

With a VIN and proof of owneraship, dealerships used to cut keys. Don't know if they do these days.
