911 bolt-in roll bar padding
Guys,
Please provide information for roll bar padding. I have finished fabricating a bolt in roll bar(87 911 cab) & rear seat delete box. I am currently restoring the enteiror and would like everyone input for roll bar padding. Thanks in advance, Terry |

Generally you shouldn't need padding on a roll bar. It is behind your seat, so your head ought not to be able to hit it.
But if you do pad, do not - repeat not - use the inexpensive soft foam. It is colorful, but useless in preventing injury. On impact it will simply compress and split. So use the hard foam half sticks. No real need to pay the premium for SFI rated stuff, but use this crushable foam stuff. It has a peel off adhesive back, which must be supplemented with tie wraps lest the hot sun cause the stuff to fall off the bar. |

Longacre Racing sells the approved padding for roll bars ... I use it to line up my harnesses on the bar instead of collars and although the padding is self adhesive,i also use tie raps like Walt suggests.
Cheers ! Phil

I'd definitely pad the parts not covered by the seats. Who knows, flailing arms in a rollover, or something.......
And definitely the SFI stuff as noted by Walt.
