Shot in the dark on window rattle

On my 88 930. I have a rattle that i think may drive me crazy and wondering if someone here can take a shot at it or at least point me in the right direction. I have had the door opener mechanism replaced as i figure it was those and the mechanic said it was but it is not. Prior to spending a bunch on it just looking for a common problem then will go from there. Long storey short when the window is up the rattle stops and when the window is down it is there. There seems to be no issue with the mechanism or the window function. Is there something else it coukd be?

I know this is a shot in the dark but thought i would ask prior to the 100 dollar an hour misdiagnosis again

Worn felt on the door top?

I have had to chase door rattles in two different cars.

In both cases, it turned out to be the two screws underneath this door end-cap.

I know its a long shot ... but give it a try for your rattle.

my rattle came from the window track, there is an adjustment to the window guide at the bottom of the track causing rattle when the window was in the up position.

i had a rattle from two little metal plates that the door pockets screw into. For some reason these little plates are just in there loose. I think its the door pocket attachment point...i dont actually have door pockets. they are located here (see circles)...

+1 ON This. Captive nut rattles when screw is loose or left out

Sometimes it could be the window coil retaining pin, mine broke but the window still works but when down it make a metallic rattle, when up, it stops. Need to replace but all works so I am being lazy about.

Noise doesn't bother me because the sweet sound of my engine over comes it :D

The other thing is, if yours is a cab or targa, the quarter window window guide mount at the bottom could fracture from closing the door at the window like most people do, I close my door using the handle always but my passengers use the damn window  well it broke that L mount. It is remarkably fragile.
