Motor Mount - Vibration
Do my motor mounts like the are installed correctly? You can see in the picture that there is a gap between the large washer and the bottom side of the motor mount. The top washer sits flush against the top of the motor mount. I replaced all four mounts with new sport mounts. Sometimes when I am starting from a stop in first gear, I get a bucking/vibration. Do you think it could be the motor mounts not being seated correctly? What do I need to do to fix this? I haven't crawled back under the car to check the transmission mounts, I guess I need to do that. Could it be something else besides the mounts?
Thanks! ![]() ![]() ![]()

Put a jack under the engine. Start lifting the car up and observe. if the engine moves up a visible amount before the car moves up, then your engine mounts are bad. Otherwise, leave it alone.

What's with the extra washers on your install ? Did they come with the kit?

The bottom convex washer should not have an I.D. larger than the engine carrier. That appears to be why it sits so low. At least that is what I see in the photo.

I think without the extra top and bottom schinken, the mount will fit as the engineers intended.

For me it looks like you have the two large washers reversed. Don't they have different IDs?

as Hank Hill would say, that ain't right. re: the post above, my recollection is those washers are the same top and bottom. you can see on the part diagram they are the same part (no. 10).

I could have sworn that there were smaller washers in a diagram I looked. I'll remove those and see what happens. I'll also chacke the ID on the bottom washer to see if it has been altered at some point. The top and bottom washers should be the same. I hope this is it, because if its not, I probably have some real work on my hands.
Thanks
