Newer seats/earlier car
What is required to install newer seats (74) in an earlier car (69)?
The seat rails are different. Can the earlier rails be modified or should they be replaced? Thanks

You just need adapter plates. I think you can buy them for about $60.00. Or you can just fabricate your own like I did once. I just needed a hacksaw, a drill and some 2" by 1/8 " flat iron that you can get at any welders supply. If you want more details on making your own let me know.

I believe the difference is that the earlier seats were on 18-inch centers, and the later ones (and most aftermarket racing seats) are on 16-inch centers. An adapter can bolt to the wider rails, and contain holes set in one inch on either side to mount the seat itself.

You'll also need somewhere to mount your seatbelt's. The early cars (at least my '71) have the seatbelt mounted to the seat and the latter seats don't account for this.
PeParts know the ins and outs of mounting seats. They also have seatbelts if you're still using the originals.

Thanks for the help. Contacted PEP on Friday and they had all the parts and all the answers.
