I used to recommend Rick religiously and I still think very highly of his work. He has worked on many of my Porsches and I have never had a problem, but as of late he has been pre-occupied with building race cars and he has not been focused on what is important...

I have two close friends that had problems with things he was supposed to do or perform. Regardless, he builds fantastic engines from the ground up. Go into his shop and walk around and ask tons of questions. You have to feel comfortable with your mechanic, so give it a try.

Check out John Walker's Workshop. John knows his stuff, and I have never read any negative comment about him.

David, while I agree with your opinion of John Walker, he's in the Northwest.

Mark, Ill agree with the preocupitation with his race car however, he does do great work, you just have to be able to deal with being second in line to the race season....He has a great staff who is just as professional and knowledgable as well.

I am paitent and get what I want almost every time I seek something from Deman...

Did you guys see the recent artical in Excellence about Red Dog Racing and the restoration of the old #55? The guy who built that car is my wife's cousin and he recommended Deman so thats why I use him...

You can eat off the floor in Rick's shop. I watched my motor go together and was very impressed, and now that I am driving with it am even more so!
They are busy, but I think that is what happens when you are good. I also like the Saturday hours, I just cant take a half day off to pick up / drop off / get something sorted on my car..
For a more relaxed enviroment, and a really cool guy, I can also recommend Ken Raab at German Auto in Amityville NY.
ALL these guys are busy now that it is spring!!
