Installed my 2.4L megaphones*WOW*
WELL I AM OFFICIALLY HARD OF HEARING NOW!!!!!
In all seriousness, it was a beautiful day here in Ky, and I thought, what the hell let's tinker ![]() I pulled the 911 project car out, and dropped the factory muffer. Needless to say, it was a snap, no rusty bolts ![]() I pulled the exhaust gaskets off, reused them, and mounted up the mega-phones. Well after my wife and sister-inlaw took off running towards the front yard; my brother and I sat there with ***** eatin grins on our faces. They sounded beautiful, then we tried to talk to one and other; our mouths were moving, but I couldn't here a DAMN thing..... So what would you do???? Me too, I climbed into the cock pit and buried my foot into the throttle, wooooohoooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!Music to my ears. I it is a wonderful sound at idle as it searches for it's smooth throttle. Sound like an alcohol dragster, then she smoothed out. I don't know how many tickets I will get, but I have to hear this thing wind out up an onramp; then shoot downtown, and hear the echo off the skyscrapers ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Just thought that I would share some thoughts. If anyone wants to hear this thing in person, call me up, I would be more than happy to drag the phone out back and fire it up. Nice to be back on the list after a small lapse. chris collier collier@iglou.com

After a track event I left a set of megaphones on my SC-powered Carrera for a month (no chance to change them or just too lazy... don't remember) and drove with them on the street. Never got a ticket but they are a bit much. I remember coming home one night at about 2AM trying not to wake my neighbors and I was shortshifting at 1700RPM. The fact that I was able to do that smoothly told me the SC cams are just too mild!
The megaphones are even a bit much for most racetracks nowadays. Most of PCA racers have gone to some kind of glasspack or resonator to comply with the sound limits tracks have imposed. But don't let that stop you. They're cheap and easy to install, so buy 'em, bolt 'em on, feel the ground shake, smile, and then take them off when you realize they're just too damn loud. Of course, the one great thing about running megaphones on the street is that no 6" rice exhaust can compete, and you won't be able to hear the gerbils screaming in their little four bangers as they struggle to overcome the drag imposed by their huge wing. God, I hate rice. Regards, zuff |
