Rear wheel bearing question

Ok so I have followed all the posted advice on here regarding wheel bearings including the very comprehensive walk through...

however I am very stuck

what else besides prybars and or hammering the hub out from the back side can be tried? Ive been working on this for some time and have gotten zero movement. all the guides say this should just pop out but that just has not been my experience.

any advice would be most appreciated

its a 1969 911 "sort of" i am still learning what PO's have done to this thing

On my 78 I had to 'press' the rear bearings out using a BF socket. Take a look at the attached pics - It looks a bit wierd because I used a threaded rod that was attached to a large metal 'T' that a friend loaned me. Now that there was this large 'T' I had to bridge that somehow - so I used one of my brake discs.

But in any case - some all thread, some washers and a couple of big sockets is all all you need to just walk those suckers out. Maybe some heat for the banana arms (a wee bit), some ice on the bearings and penetratig oil.

Put down the hammers. This way is nice and quiet.

Opps I just realized you were having trouble with the hubs themselves. I used two large crowbars working opposite sides - like 0 and 180, then 270 and 90. It took a while - but that was what worked for me.

I guess if the bearings give you trouble you can use most post above for that. Good luck.

hahaha- slide out?

NOT!

you need to pull it out - the pry bars are to remove the race from the hub...you have described 2 different things, show us a pic of what is stuck or find one and post it

whoops - same post time.... SO to pull the bearing out you need a tube outside on the aluminum big enought for the bearing to fit inside....and a plug on the axle side of the bearing that wont go thru the center of the bearing and just thread those together....it should come right out

Correct - At least for the bearing - try to find a socket that sits on the races of the bearing and not inside on the seals/balls. That way you are pressing on the meaty part of the assembly.

I do remember the hubs giveing me fits... I just kept at it with teh two crowbars... working 180 to 0 and 270 to 90 and back. Eventually they walked-out that way.

BF crowbars worked for me too. I beat the snot out of it from the back side with a drift and a 5lb sledge with no success.

2 200 lb people 2 crowbars 2 hours zero movement from the hub, I ended up borrowing a massive slidehammer from a friend, and then I used the bearing removal method that worked in less than 5 minutes. the bearing is finally out so thats the great news.
