I am trying to get some advise on how to fix a problem on my 1985 Porsche 911 Targa. It appears that that my passenger side door remains unlocked and cannot be locked by turning the car off, by pushing the door lock pin down, by turning the interior door lock knob down, nor by locking the car door from the outside with the key. The lock will not budge and it appears the forcing it from the outside will break the key. When I turn off the car ignition off or on, you can hear the lock motor click. It appears the anti-shutout mechanism is engaged and will not disengage.
I intend to open up the door panel and examine it. I am seeking fellow Porsche owners who have encountered this type of problem to comment before I open up the door panel. Does the door lock motor have to be replaced? Does the door lock inside the door have to be replaced? or is it a matter of the several rods not disengaging? |

If you can hear the motor actuating then the pin has jumped off and not engaging the lock release mechanism. If you can not hear the motor, you may have a short, I found the white wire was bent and the mechanism was rubbing against it and shorting out. Re-insulated it and all was fine.
If you need the shop manual pm me your email address and I will send you the pdf file "Sealing the 911" Jim Oh yeah Welcome Vegas to the Board! Please post a pic of your baby
