Front spoiler
Is the original chin spoiler on the '87 Carrera's made from rubber/steel or what? I don't have one but do have the whale tail.
Were chin spoilers ever made in other materials for different years/models? Thanks Mark |

The valence is steel but the chin spoiler is rubber. They range in price from 200 to $300 new, I see them on e-bay for $150 used sometimes. Not sure if the cheaper ones are OEM or reproductions. I bought mine for $75 used but in good condition.
The same spoiler fits all 911s from 74 to 89, except for the turbo, it has a different spoiler to fit the flared fenders. They sell a hardware kit to mount them for around $45, but lots of people just use regular fasteners with decent results. You will have to drill holes in your valence to install a spoiler. This of course does not count some of the more exotic or custom cars, such as the RS and RSR, they are a whole different ballgame. Last edited by sammyg2; 03-26-2002 at 11:18 AM.. |

I believe the factory chin spoilers on all (street) 911's were made out of rubber, and were all the same. The only variation I can think of is the one for the Turbo model which extends further up on both sides, and replaces the front fender extensions. I think all other spoilers were integrated into the valace/bumper (such as the early "S" spoiler), and not a seperate piece.
