Just some observations

After finally getting my RS impostor on the road and driving it bit I noticed a few things. First off obviously is the weight vs. my 88 Carrera. In the "Green car" everything is much more direct, steering feel, suspension movement(stock on both).

Next, engine performance. While I can not knock the Carrera's efi and it's advantages, I am amazed at how much more responsive the 3.0 cis(only mod is M&K sport) is in the "Impostor". I mean this thing literally begs for me to wring it's neck at every opportunity, throttle response is insane. The Carrera by comparison feels sluggish(Steve W. chip, Dansk 1 in 2 out).
I do love the G50 though, as the 915 in the RS is in need of a rebuild.

As such, I find myself wondering if I should just sell the '88 Don't get me wrong, I love the car and often find myself peeking out the window of my apt. because it's such a nice looking car. But what I built in the RS is more what I expect from a Porsche. Pure driving feedback, adrenaline rushing fun.

Thanks to all that answered my dumb questions and gave me encouragement and inspiration in the past 5 years it took me to put the RS together.

The RS looks beautiful and has always been a dream car of mine. As for the 88, keep it, if you can. As an electrical engineer who is a mechanical engineer on the weekends, you will always get better response out of the mechanical systems. Digital is good but in the end of the day, no matter how small, how in significant, delay in digital systems will always exist. For me there has always been some thing pure about my 78SC over my 88 924s. The SC always felt like a machine to me so I know what you are saying about the adrenaline rush. What ever you chose to do with the cars remember, Porsche there is no substitute.

Thanks Dave.

Just got back from a spirited evening drive, and the whole time I was driving it I really didn't think much about anything other than enjoying the noise bouncing off the cliff faces of the coast.
I will admit the seats are much more comfortable and the cabin is far quieter. Not better, not worse, just different.

Next couple of weeks will decide if I keep the '88 or not. I may just pull the engine and tend to the valve guides. Car didn't smoke at all this evening....curious...
