Why is this website so slow again?
 

Am I alone, or is anyone else experiencing really slow response from this site?

I visit a group of sites daily, but Pelican is far and away (again, recently) the most balky and slow of the bunch.

Who knows what's up?

I have been experiencing the slow response also. I guess it's because this site is so popular.

Probably too many duplicate posts. They take up a lot of server time...

Mine is responding just fine today, no issue.

I had slow responses this morning but I thought it was my internet connection.

Mine was slow...got off internet to see if it would go faster on PP..back on ...no joy... but now seems to be OK

It's been slow in So. Ill. Other sites respond/load much faster.

Yes, it'd been a little sluggish to respond over the last couple of days.

However, I'm merely adding a comment and not complaining at all! I must give Kudos, thanks, and praise to Wayne and his crew for the job they do and the community they provide..

Ok, I say this because I bang around on a few other supposedly enthusiast sites, and what a bunch of misers! Oh, they want you to pay a fee to be a member and register, or they want to limit the amount of pics you can post, or limit the number of days before you can post a pic, or a for sale add and on and on! Jeez..

I have one car that I've finally gotten it through my thick head that I'm just not gonna get around to bring it back.. so I decide to sell it reasonably and list it on a couple of sites for enthusiast of that marque.. well one pops up after I type and load the ad, and tells me that because "I'm not a club member," it'll be $30 to list the add or if I join for $50 the add is free! Duh! The other related "bbs" allows me to load, pics and all.. and then says that the add will be posted after approval by a moderator. Ok fine, except that was a month ago! I sent the webmaster and the 3 moderators a polite note asking if there was anything else I need to do, if there was a cost that I was over looking, and the fact that I'd rather offer the car to the community rather than on slezebay or Crack's-list. What a bunch of bumpkins!

So apologies for the rant.. thanks again Wayne for a great site, and its off to slezebay with the hoopty!

Yup, slow as a Miata in the mud.

we broke it, fess up. my slower unit at home is really slow. sometimes the website won't even come up, when everything else does.

It's Netflix tying up too much bandwidth again

Huh? I'm on the fastest service available here. Oh, maybe that was a joke.

Seems it was 2 or 3 weeks ago the server started getting really slow again.. at times and then it works normal again at other times.

Maybe it gets slow when a bunch of people are using the search function at the same time and maybe thats using up the servers CPU and RAM resources as the old harddrives search through tons of old post data that may be fragmented and no where near contiguos.

Who knows.

I found that they do the Site Maintenance between 3 to 5 AM EST and that is when I always have my problems / issues!

Submitted by: Burkie61 Slow here as well - (Lower Mainland). I usually I find the fault to be with my ISP (cable). Everything seems to load OK, but quite slow.

Actually, I have had the same intermittent speed issues as well.

Oh, and yes.. she's patient.. she has to be as the car thing is part of the program.. as is replacement. :eek:

Been slowsky for at least a week now. Still fast the majority of the time though.

It is real slow sometimes I:( can't even log on

yesterday i just got blank white pages. sometimes i got the "can't find the website" page. every other forum/site came up just fine. happens a lot.

Sometimes almost instant..sometimes 30-60 seconds waiting for next page of a thread

yep same here .. sometimes it's a bit slow but definitely worth the wait.
great site with very helpful enthusiastic car people.

Very slow page loading over the past hour. 6PM-7PM EST
