difference 2.0S and 2.2 S MFI pump flowrate
hello ,
do you know if there is a very big difference at idle between a 2.0S and a 2.2 S MFI pump in terms of fuel flowrate ? Indeed my engine is cutting off at idle with my 2.0 S totally new pump when engine is warm. I have 2.2 P&C. When engine is at mid or high revs everything is ok . Do you know if it is possible to explain that with the pump themselves particularly at idle ? is there anything to tune ? thanks a lot jd Last edited by thor; 11-22-2011 at 07:22 AM.. |

Do you mean it's stalling, dieing at idle after the engine is warmed up? There is no difference in the idle fuel flow between the 2.0S 005 pump and the 2.2S 009 pump. Both should deliver 10.5 ml/1000 to 11.5 ml/1000 @ 800 rpm.

Ok
The reason is i had this problem of stalling and i resent the pump to the bosch guys and they explained it was due to environment and not the pump as my p&c are high compression . But having the same flowrate at idle between 2.0s and 2.2s shows it doesn t make sense! This information will allow me to explain them the setup wasn t correct (when engine is cold ok but when thermostat is closing , the engine is dieing at idle ) Jd |

Is the engine running very rich at warm idle? Are you getting enough warm air up from the heat exchanger to the thermostat on the MFI pump?
Or is the pump seem to be very lean at idle after warm up?

Lean at idle
Why ? Do you know if it possible to setup the pump with a thermostat open or half open ? i think this is the problem because i have cut mechanically with a screw driver and the engine is cutting offf . Last edited by thor; 11-22-2011 at 01:18 PM.. |
