Question Problem with ignition...maybe...please help!

Hi,

car: Porsche 911 1966 with 1973 2.2 liter engine.

The problem is this:
I changed the sparks, leads, distributor cap, air filter, oil, oil filter etc... during the winter. The idle plus engine running was improved a lot. Everything worked just fine!

I just took my Porsche from winter storage yesterday. There was very little fuel, so I put some 20 liters (around 4-5 gallons) fuel. Drove to work. Everything was fine. Started the engine in the evening to get back home. It seemed a little lazy... like one cyl was not operating. Drove home and the same situation continued the whole 10 miles.

Today I checked things as follows:
I removed the ignition cables one by one with an additional sparg plug attached. There was a good lightning (my poor english...) in each of them. Removed the air filter assembly -> swithed the power (i.e. fuel pump) to ON position and pushed the fuel to the carbs (Webers) -> some mist from each carb holes (i.e. fuel to all carbs)...

Checked the ignition -> fine....

What I haven't check (should I??...how???):
-Ignition coil
-condensator from distributor
-could it be that one carb is somehow blocked?

anything... please... getting desperate... please...

the work shop is not open until tuesday, and there's always a queue of several days, maybe weeks....

If you stored the car with low fuel you may have developed some rust in the tank or other gunk. check the fuel filters or replace them. Also remove the Idel and Main jets on the carbs and clean them. While the jets are out squirt carb cleaner through the holes where the jets are removed from

It is common for low-level fuel tanks over time to develop condensation which would mean water in the fuel. That is why a dose of Stabil and a full tank are recommended for storage purposes.

So just a guess on this one. Assuming battery is 100%, etc.

Re: Problem with ignition...maybe...please help!

Thanks guys for your response. Something to add: The car has been in a dry garage the whole winter and I've warmed the engine up about once a month. The battery is just fine.

Yeah, checking the fuel filters crossed my mind, but can't find them...

Is there any carb cleaner spray available to
a) remove some possible rust/dust
b) remove the water from carbs ?

Do you recommend not to drive with the car???

True, but he pilot deserves a medal for landing in shallow water, and keeping it out of the nearby homes and restaurant on the shore.
