My 88 Arizona Coupe
Hi all. After selling my 997 a couple of years ago, I wanted to replace the void in our life.... Here's my find. An 88, unmolested coupe. Exactly what I was hoping to come across.
Took her to Ray Stephens in Lake Havasu City,Az for a complete service and tune up, tires, new 930S steering wheel and chin spoiler. Then to Roger Blakeman for a undercarriage clean, doors seals, and full interior/exterior detail and polish. When I picked it up, I was blown away with the results. I have learned so much from the community here at PP, Ray, and Roger. Thanks to all, enjoy the pics. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Very nice looking! Where do you live? We have a pretty big group of P-car people over here in Phoenix.

That is a beautiful car. I saw the transformation at Roger Blakemen's during the detail of it.
Roger is the best of the best. He even polishes the transmission and exhaust! When a Porsche comes out of his garage, it looks better than new. I can't say enough good things about Ray Stephens. I had my 81 SC at another shop for a top end rebuild. After two tries, I finally took it to Ray. When you bring your car into his shop, he goes over every hose, bolt connection, and condition of your vehicle, top to bottom. He spends about an hour and a half, explaining his findings every step of the way. In addition to a multitude of small items, after a test drive, he discovered that it ran very poorly for a modified SC. In depth evaluation revealed that my cam timing was way off, my new head studs were not tourqed properly, and my rockers were not tightened correctly, with one sitting loose in the head. Since he's straightened it out summer of 2010, it has run perfectly. Anytime I have a question, I can call Ray, and he will take care of my issue, even evenings and weekends. He also is the mechanic for two race teams; The man knows his stuff. They don't come any finer, more honest, or more competent than Ray. I now enjoy my car every day, thanks to him. If you are within reach of Lake Havasu City and need work done on your car, Ray's the man. _________________ 81 SC, breathed on a little 04 Lexus LX 470 04 Lexus SC 430 06 Toyota Land Cruiser 91 Ford F250 ![]() |

Nick,
Got the 930S wheel right here from Pelican! Everything you need, adapter, spacer, and Porsche Crest. Not cheap, but looks proper + the quality is excellent. |

Edit: Ah, Hell, I give up, but will say that the real Porsche wheel has no seems at all save for the one at the bottom and of course the sewn parts inside....see below . ![]() There are no seams at 9:00, 10:00, 2:00, or 3:00 on the surface facing the driver on the Porsche wheel. People do like the 'other' one it seems, however, just a matter of choice. ...and $.02... Last edited by nesslar; 12-01-2011 at 03:31 PM.. |

Well, I do see the differences between your pic and mine....But I assure you what is on my car was ordered last month from Pelican right off the site. Maybe they recently changed suppliers on this? They state that mine is the real Porsche OEM deal from their supplier. + All the paperwork in the box was printed in German......

Yep, great car BTW, of course...your's I mean!
It would appear that the newer 'available here' wheel has indeed changed from the previous offering; no doubt, in fact. To wit (the still shown version in the new parts catalog): http://www.pelicanparts.com/catalog/shopcart/911M/POR_911M_INTdsh_pg1.htm "This wheel is the real thing from the OEM manufacturer - not a replica." It's the real thing now; but not then.... Last edited by nesslar; 12-01-2011 at 03:44 PM.. |
