I got a noise...
...when the clutch is out, in neutral. When I push in the clutch the noise goes away. I can't feel anything, just hear it. It's not a constant noise, it has a rhythym to it. Kind of a thumpa, thumpa, thumpa type thing.
'74 2.7, Webers. I'm thinking it's throwout bearing but I don't really know for sure. It's been 10 years & 20,000 miles since the clutch was changed (paperwork from PO) and at that time a rebuilt trans was put in as well. I've put about 8,000 miles on the car in the last 15 months.....car seems to shift well, no grinding or anything. I can't tell if it makes the same noise in gear while driving, too much other noise. Thoughts? |
Is the clutch the rubber centered version? If so, the rubber may be coming apart.
If not, I would consider the TOB. |
Post a audio clip.
I replaced my T/O bearing and Guide Tube ( also the pilot bearing ) and it really quietened my clutch. I had a gritty feel issue, it is all good now. |
