Denatured Alcohol in Washer Fluid
Sadly, I've stopped spending my time here in favor of wasting it on the OT Forum. Like so many of us, I miss Early_S_Man Warren Hall. He would have completely answered my current question.
Winter is here and I wonder about the wisdom of putting a bit of denatured alcohol into one or more windshield washer fluid reservoirs. Basically, it is a de-icer. I have a hazy recollection that truckers use it. But I just wonder if it will attack the parts inside the washer pump. Will denatured alcohol hurt anything in the windshield washer system? If not, what about a 25% mixture? If denatured alcohol is a bad idea, then what de-icing component will work? I know that commercial fluids often contain ethylene glycol (radiator coolant), which seems gummy to me.
