Porsche repair shop in Atlanta?
We need to get some clutch work done on a Boxter...anyone know a shop (other than the dealer) that fixes Porsches in the Atlanta area?
Thanks, mike

I have never used either but I have also not heard any bad word of mouth.

Some here don't like him...But my brother and I have always had great luck with Reggie at Pro Formance Place on South Cobb Drive in the Smyrna/Marietta area.

I use Dieder at Franz Blam. They do excellent work and get it done by when it is promised.

Mike (emptyo),
It really depends on what part of Atlanta you're talking about. Ryland's place is northwest Atlanta, and receives my highest recommendation. He's a real knowledgeable, stand up guy that does quality work. On the northeast side is where Franz Blam Racing is located. There is more info if you do a search...like this thread. Cheers! Randy

Mike, are you visiting Atlanta? We are a couple of hours north and would love to catch up.

I've got to put a plug in for Jim Kimmey who owns European Import Services in Suwanee. 770-932-5267
I had a starting problem that was looked into at another shop - discussed on this board and another without results. I talked to Jim at length on the phone and he came up with the correct plan that fixed the issue. I even drove my car up to Suwanee from Norcross one evening and he drove me home - he lives in Tucker. Great guy.

Thanks for the tips.
Has anyone done a clutch in a Boxter? Is it DiY friendly?

Should you consider heading southward around 80 miles, there's a great wrench in Bolingbroke that I use: James Roberts of Roberts' Automotive. VERY professional,..and VERY Porsche,..maybe a bit cheaper than the Atlanta market (possibly). He's my go to guy.
Best, Doyle

I think the only issue would be getting the car down there. That's going to be a challenge...

It's not that difficult, but you will require a speicalized Torx socket to remove one of the bolts holding the tranny to the engine. I had to cut it down with the Dremel and slip a 13mm wrench over it. You will need to remove the suspension crossmembers/underplate, exhaust, CV shafts, shifter cables, and the tranny mounts. Obviously, support the engine and use jackstands when underneath. |
