How to tell difference in front struts? 84 911

How can I tell what type of struts are in a 1984 911? Need new ones and was unaware they used two different types. Thanks.

Color.....black is Boge, green is Billstein. They should have an engraving on the outside.

Pretty sure Koni makes an insert for the Bills....don't think so on Boge. Best to ask a supplier if you want adjustable Konis. I have used Paragon in the past when Pelican did have them.

Jason was very knowledgeable.

Post a pic, If you look carefully you should see a brand.

Typically, black is BOGE and Yellow ( depending on HD or Sport )would be Bilsteins if OEM, take care PO may have painted it.

I had Boge black spindle ( base ) with yellow Bilstien inserts and dust cover which was partially painted black by PO

An 84 probably has Boges. You can get Bilstein inserts for them.
