Guards red was the overdone fashion "LOOK AT ME! I HAVE A PORSCHE!" color of the 80s.
IMO, it's like what the "Carrera " side script is to 2010. ;)

Those who get it think your car is cool. Those who don't will think you're a poseur....
IMO. ;)

Clean is cool....

nesslar 12-07-2011 11:44 AM

Just opinions, of course, but I would backdate the front and rear of that car in a heartbeat, and then add the script; either way, I bet you remove the script, not having rockers. Otherwise leave it as is, as the script may bring the sides 'up' to an extent visually. Maybe the gold is best for the script if at all, as in a previous post. I firmly believe your car has way too much bumper/spoiler goin' on, like many cars. Beautiful overall, no doubt.....

rattlsnak 12-07-2011 12:00 PM

Good timing on this thread. I just finished putting on one side of the script on my project car..

One man's meat is another's poison , of course!
The script was originally placed there for what reason? Marketing? Now , if you desire a tribute look then it's appropriate . If you want your car to stand out amongst the tributes , then perhaps dare to be different? Revel in the glorious green expanse.

As we know , the owner can decide whether the car looks better with a "bra" or not :)
Maybe I should get a script? Young kid the other day walks past and says to mum "Look! A Ferrari!" Even though mine's green! Why are there no green Ferraris?

kilodawg 12-07-2011 02:37 PM

I'd go with the Carrera stripes in gold with matching wheel centers. Very period and I think they would elevate the entire look of the car to another level.

See if you can mentally morph these two images.....

I hope you took the time to educate that young kid! Porsche's aren't found in a massive pileup on a Japanese highway.

JeremyD 12-07-2011 02:55 PM

I decided on the Carrera script mainly because it's a little taller - and it breaks the expanse a little more than the plane PORSCHE script. I was torn between the two - but felt it needed something

Had my 911 over at the race shop today in preparation to start a brake upgrade. Seeing it in the bright lighting I'm starting to have second thoughts about the script... this green metallic is such a hard color to photograph accurately, but these pics capture it well.

If you already have the script...just put it on. Worst case scenario, you don't like it and you remove it.

SO much better as is.

BTW, what is that yellow thing in the background? A Merak?

pplkook 12-09-2011 12:42 AM

Yellow car is a Bora - the Merak didn't have the full glass IIRC.

I really like the idea of the gold fuchs with the gold script. Sans gold fuchs, I say sans script...

2nd favorite short hood on the site now...I cant stop looking at it.

Hmmm....I do like it without the stripe but I'd have to "RSR" the wheels to make it work as the silver centers overpower the look.

Thanks for the 'shop! :)

BTW, is it a sportomatic? I only see two pedals.

lateapex911 12-10-2011 11:06 AM

At first I thought no, but looing closer, it does appear the clutch pedal is MIA. or stuck on the floor.. Looks like the carpet is slit for it...

Ok, Thanks to this thread, I've gone minimalist and taken my script OFF! Thanks to John for getting this one going. Even my 11yo daughter likes the new look.

Next, RSR finish on the wheels.

I wish I could. iPhoto has a simple (idiot proof) tool that lets you remove blemishes. It worked to erase the script but I can't cut and paste or add anything. That would take something like photoshop. I can turn a wrench, not a mouse.

GaryR 12-11-2011 06:34 AM

No script, I like the minimalist look..... can't you tell?

An observation:
I suspect from the pattern of responses that many Americans lack the "embarrassment gland" found in most Europeans, many Canadians and some Australians.

I guess I missed where Americans invented Carrera sidescript and Scuderia shields. I would throw in something that Aussies invented but darned if I can think of oneSmileWavy

Young Einstein...

Albert Einstein, the son of an apple farmer in Tasmania in the early 1900s, splits a beer atom with a chisel in order to add bubbles to beer, discovers the theory of relativity and travels to Sydney to patent it. While there, he invents the electric guitar and surfing while romancing Marie Curie. He invents rock and roll and uses it to save the world from being destroyed due to misuse of a nuclear reactor under the watchful eye of Charles Darwin.

Go for it! Your car would be a great candidate.

Green (car) - for the money
Gold (scrip) - for the honeys!

Good call! IMO, the script belongs on the cars that are, you know, Carreras. As in the factory calls them that.

Brorag 12-20-2011 09:12 AM

what do you want?
Do it.

69-912-swt 12-25-2011 09:46 AM

Just checking on opinions on Carrera stripes on my yellow Carrera ??
Photoshop help would be GREAT !!
#1 Yes or No ??
#2 Do I need to remove stone guards ?? Worried the paint under the guards is not the same color as who knows how long the stone guards have been on !!
#3 Already have the Carrera stripe. It has been shrunk to fit more on just the door area.

Merry Christmas, Bill
