Should I install 'Carrera' side script?

Just on the fence and need to be pushed one way, or the other. Thanks for your opinion/input.

I say YES!!

Any I have a pile of goodies with your name on them ;-)

Gustyones 12-06-2011 07:07 PM

I personally would not put them on your car. I'd think about stone guard decals though.

Scooter 12-06-2011 07:11 PM

I think your car could look nice with the script, so I vote yes.

930chef 12-06-2011 07:18 PM

Carrera script

Definite yes. Especially with no rockers.
Kevin

fbarrett 12-06-2011 07:19 PM

In gold.

RSTarga 12-06-2011 07:21 PM

yes!

I agree.
Try it on one side. They are easy enough to take off.

drola 12-06-2011 07:34 PM

i vote yes

porschenut 12-06-2011 07:34 PM

I think the Porsche script would look better than the Carrera script on that car.

tazzieman 12-06-2011 07:39 PM

I like the naked look. Would you write Ferrari or Lambo on your Ferrari or Lambo? The car's sinuous lines speak for themselves.
Lovely car btw!

timchar 12-06-2011 07:59 PM

While its obvious what the car is, it still adds flare... I say yes..

Dave Colangelo 12-06-2011 08:26 PM

+1 for the Porsche script
but i like either one, I have always been a huge fan of the white RS with the red carrera logo on the side.

village idiot 12-06-2011 08:29 PM

+1 for some kind of graphic just to break up the expanse of green.

intakexhaust 12-06-2011 08:48 PM

Nope. Terrific looking color and trim. Pass on the stone shields too. The way it sits means all business without the tackiness. You did ask ; )

timchar 12-06-2011 09:00 PM

11 yes. 3 no. Interesting.....try it, if you don't like it, take it off.. only out 60 bucks or so...go for it!

Nate2046 12-06-2011 09:22 PM

'Porsche' script is the new 'Carrera' script. Do it in black. It looks a little more business and that car is definitely the business.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/suppo...amingdevil.gif

oh snap 12-06-2011 09:49 PM

Another vote for Porsche script

Rob H 12-07-2011 02:13 AM

It's mean enough, with those lines. Keep it clean.

canamfan 12-07-2011 03:02 AM

Do it in Gold, you can always take them off if you don't like them (maybe have a graphics/photoshop wiz draw some in here on you're car in different colours) the pic you posted is a pretty good one to do that before you decide :D

PcarPhil 12-07-2011 03:05 AM

Nice car! I could go either way with the script. I eventually put the PORSCHE script on mine and I think it was a great addition.

dad911 12-07-2011 03:34 AM

With the fuchs and chrome trim, I'd do it in silver or grey.

sc_rufctr 12-07-2011 03:36 AM

I like her the way she is. If it was a narrow bodied car then YES do it.

An RSR car is beautiful naked.

drcoastline 12-07-2011 03:39 AM

Leave it alone.

kiwiokie 12-07-2011 03:41 AM

Lovely car John. My vote would be the Carrera script to color matched to your wheel centers. I have a picture of a 3.0 RS in a similar color with gold wheel centers and gold script. Very nice indeedy.

s_morrison57 12-07-2011 03:54 AM

I got the turbo script from a guy on this board, he makes them out of real thin magnetic material that stays on at high speed, they look great and you can take them off easy too, best of both worlds IMO. He makes the carrera script and shark fins too. Real easy to change the look of your car without making it permanent

Canada Kev 12-07-2011 04:32 AM

PORSCHE script. I would consider the rear flare rock guards, too, but in clear so you can't see them. Those wide flares take a lot of abuse.

giovanni86 12-07-2011 04:38 AM

No!

jackb911 12-07-2011 05:00 AM

I'm thinking of removing my side script to change up the look. Decisions, decisions...

Lovely car btw!

If those automobiles originally were equipped with 'Ferrari' or 'Lambo' on them I'd consider it...I think it's a matter of taste. Certainly you're not suggesting that the Carrera script was originally placed on the side of the car to make sure everyone knew what model automobile is was, are you?

I think 'Carrera' script would add to, not detract from, the look of your car. Which is darn nice indeed.

Hmmm...

Initial reaction: yes!!!!

Second thought: Keep it clean. Altenatively color hood black or just do a black stripe front to back!

megerian 12-07-2011 05:56 AM

Another vote for posting Photoshopped comparisons for us to vote on :-)

I personally would go for stone guards, and no decal... but posted images might sway the voting

Dublinoh 12-07-2011 06:01 AM

Looks good without...will look good with...do what you want.

my vote something in black or nothing

jjwood 12-07-2011 06:43 AM

I vote yes to the Carrera stripes!

Porchcar guy 12-07-2011 08:40 AM

I had a 72E Coupe in snow white with no rockers, long hood with RSR bodywork and the same tail. Blacked out all window trim and handles.also had black stone guards. Loved the clean lines and mean stance on her. Do not spoil your semi sleeper look ! My vote is NO !!!

Decolliber 12-07-2011 08:41 AM

I vote no. Looks cleaner, restrained and elegant without the decal. The decal looks ostentatious to me, like an old Firebird with racing strips and flame decal on the hood.

John Schaefer 12-07-2011 08:49 AM

Thanks for all the insight feedback. It's been very helpful :)

After sleeping on this last night, and based upon what I've read here, I'm going to go ahead and install the black script I've had sitting on a shelf for 2 years. I can always remove it.

For those who have asked, the color is original to my car and its called Vipergrun Metallic (#249). When I purchased this 911S out of San Fran someone had changed the color to Guards Red... go figure.

The interior has it's original carpet and vinyls. I believe the center panel fabric is original too, but I've never seen this pattern before:

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1323279392.jpg

For go power I've deep six'd the original 2.7 and installed a super mean twin plug 3.5 (pulled from an old race car, it has a non-factory serial #6840161 stamped into it) with real RSR pistons, RSR heads, and old school IDA 48's.

timchar 12-07-2011 08:59 AM

John, sounds like a great plan.. can't wait to see pics.. I may do grey carrera on my black 86 coupe. Tim
