Seeking local resources while daughter drives from Boston to Miami this week

Hi Guys,

Are any of you willing to, in the event of an auto emergency, be a resource who can direct my daughter to the right local service providers?

She'll be driving with her Grandfather from Boston to Miami, starting on Wed. morning, to take a new job there. Sadly, I cannot join her on the drive due to work.

Although her 2006 325xi is in great condition, I'd feel a whole lot better if I knew that there were some savvy local car resources she could turn to along the way.

(Yah, I know its not a P-car, but she does like my 964 and I bought the car for her as a "you got straight A's graduation present".)

I'm guessing that, leaving Wed AM, they'll be in Miami easily by Friday morning, so its not a long window.

TIA for any help.

Phil

Having spent a lot of time in Dearborn, I am positive that they won't end up in your neck of the woods!

BTW, I love the color of your car. I had a 1988 Venetian Blue Coupe. Thought I had the killer color. I stand corrected!!

Local sources.......

I live in South Georgia not too far from I75 and the Florida/Georgia line. I would be happy to help in case of an emergency. I'll send a PM with my phone numbers.

If she ever gets to HNL, I can recommend a good BMW and Porsche mechanic.

I75 Construction

There are a couple of stretches of I75 that are under construction. One is just south of Atlanta and the other is between Cordele, Ga. and Tifton, Ga. These two areas can get a bit hectic at times. There is a good place for a rest stop and gas at I75 exit 221 south of Atlanta. There is a QT gas station that is always clean and has great coffee. Or, at exit 136 in Perry, Ga. there is a Shell station that also has good coffee and reasonably clean restrooms. The last really good place to stop is in Valdosta, Ga. at exit 16. There are several fast food places and gas stations to choose amongst. Once across the Florida line, there are not any good places to stop until you get to Ocala, Fl. Hope it turns out to be an uneventful trip!

If she is going from Boston to Miami. I think she will only need to use I-95 for the trip.
Most of the construction in Groriga is done at least my last trip in Oct.

Most important is to get some form of roadside assistance. My cell phone company is few dollars a month, she might need it in Miami.

As long as her tires are in great shape and battery is Ok. Florida heat kills batteries every 3-4yrs.

Phil, you might want to post this thread over on PPOT or shoot Racerbvd (Byron) a PM. He lives in Orange Park (Jacksonville), and I guarantee he'd offer his support, and has local contacts for auto related issues too. She'll be fine...btw, many college students have made the journey to Ft. Lauderdale for spring break and back north with no problems in past years !

We gotcha covered here in the Mid-Atlantic from DE thru Richmond, and can probably come up with a few contacts in both NC & SC if needed. (Prior (way prior) BMW service mgr & CCA chair person)

Daughter to Miami: Update

My daughter and her grandfather left MA yesterday afternoon (flight delays getting him from Maine to MA). Despite the later-than-planned departure time, they made it safely to Richmond, VA last night.

Attached is a phone pic of them just before they left from Dartmouth, MA.

Again, my thanks to all of you who have so kindly offered to help.

Phil
