'83 SC- any issues after battery disconnect?

All:

If I disconnect the battery from my '83 SC & reconnect a new one, should I expect any running issues? I know the stereo will probably ask for a code, but will the engine need to 're-acclimate' itself like my 993 did?

I put my 911 in storage & hooked a battery tender to it, but after a week it's still 'charging' which makes me think I need a new battery. Last 2 911's ('89 & '96) it only read 'charge' for a day then went to 'maintain'.

Thanks in advance,

Paul.

That's the beauty of an old car, reconnecting a (new) battery and the car won't know any difference.

Unless there is some goof-ball alarm hooked up? I know I have one.

Have fun.

Good point Larry. But I don't see one. Fingers crossed!

Only thing on my 82SC is to reset the clock. My stereo predates the special code feature, so I just need to reset all the radio presets. I have stock alarm and it has not been bothered by battery disconnects.

No worries, just clock and maybe stereo adjust.

Remember Positive first then Negative. For goodness sake, wear gloves and do not touch the chassis or any metal surface with the tool while putting on the positive side.

Negative side will give off a very little connection spark of no concern because of the current draw from the Clock and or Hood light.
