Question Re: Stock Steering Wheel for '74

My '74 has what I think is an aftermarket 930 style steering wheel. I'm not a big fan of the smaller diameter wheel and would like to switch to a stock wheel.

I decided to try my 914 steering wheel to see how it fits and looks (since the stock wheel is about the same as the 914's). However, the 914 wheel would not fit. It seemed like it might have fit but the steering wheel hub is too close to the dash an so you'd never get it to fit.

Now I'm looking at a '75 911S wheel on the classified and I'm wondering how it's going to fit. Does the stock wheel for the mid 911's have an additional hub that the 914 does not? My 930 style wheel has a hub that's about 3" and I'm wondering if I will be able to use this.

Anyway, if anyone has a photo of a stock steering wheel on a mid 911, I'd love to see it. Thanks.........Vern

The 75 wheel will fit. It has a collapse-able hub that the 914 wheel doesn't. It spaces the wheel out from the dash. The next thing that you need to consider is how long are your legs? the 74-77 steering wheels are concentric and don't leave much room for legs. I need space for my legs and if your like me you'll need a 78-89 wheel that is eccentric and/or a wheel with the extended hub.

Thanks for the info and picture. This explaines a lot. I may need to find a later wheel - I'm guessing it's similar to my 944. However, the 944 wheel has a different size spline (as least my '88 does).
