jacks

Does anyone know what a 911 engine and transmission weighs. I am to buy a transmission jack from Harbor freight and need to knoiw the weight. They have two, one has a weight limit of 800 pds and the other 2,000 pds. Thats the reason why I need the weight.
Also if anyone has used these jacks and has experience with them please let me know

engine + transmission is not over 800 lbs. that said, i see atv jacks used for engine drops, rather than a transmission jack. atv jack size and shape are more conducive to dropping the engine and transmission together as a unit.

Yeah, get the ATV jack, it's perfect for doing an engine. You can even strip the engine down to the longblock while it sits there on the jack before you put it on a stand.

I purchased the Aluminum Motor Cycle Jack from HF and it worked perfectly for me on my engine and trans drop. I also used it to drop my Lexus ES300 Trans.

Light Weight, Low Profile and 1500lb Capacity, better to have more than not enough, I say

I do recommend getting a piece of 12"X 1" X 24-30" pine board to help stabilize or balance side to side on the engine upon removal and install. It will fracture and indent but that is what needed it for and more or a pad for the bottom of the engine. Also I found you do need to use the top extension, it make it unstable while engine is on it
