fr wilk powerprom chip
i have a 1984 911 and i was reading on fr wilks web site about afm fix and i saw he made chips for 911. if you read 944 forum his chips are highly used. i also found out he had been around for a long time doing the 944 chips. i emailed him and he said check to see if chip was a 24 pin plug in, or was it fixed to board. when i took dme out you could see someone had opened it before. there was a chip in it that was not the stock one plus a 28 pin socket. so i said to myself he was very helpful so i bought one of his 3k5 power prom chips. i orderd it on saturday and recieved it wedesday.
installed chip and the car runs fantastic. the car was really a dog below 3500-4000 rpm. i believe there is a small hp gain, but the big improvement is in low end power and drivability. where i would have to down shift,no more. pulled out on highway in 5th gear no sweat. the car seems to rev without stumble or lag. much better in traffic. i was not expecting a 100 hp or 200 mph just better drivabilty and throttle response. the car runs better than i expected. great customer service. the chip was only 125.00 . |

"i believe there is a small hp gain"
Which is typical for all the feedback posts for the so-called 'performance' chips. "the chip was only 125.00" But some get taken-down-the-path by the other Lemmings (evangelists) and pay over twice as much for the same (results?).

"what's the contact info?"
Porsche 911- US Have to give this guy credit for being one of the few to reverse engineer and understand the Bosch DME ECM and not like many who just use a PC to just change a few map cells and claim to now be an expert in 'performance' chips. But what do you expect when you have Lemmings who lack basic knowledge about engine management systems and post the same hyperbole over and over again, giving the so-called best chip 'the only chip' rating.

ok, took car out for a drive today. the car really runs good now. i think i put 150 miles on it today. did some christmas shopping, stopped and seen some freinds and then took the LONG WAY HOME through chicago down through peotone , kankakee on the back roads. i was supposed to be doing some work , but what the hell. the car did not miss a beat. normally i do not like to take car in heavy stop and go traffic because it would jerk and buck at very slow speed, not any more. it's even easier to take off in the car as far as letting out clutch, no more going dead bucking. on back roads car pulled from 50 mph up over 100 mph in 5th gear with ease. the red line comes up fast now and you have to watch tach closer. i still have my cat on and i have a bypass pipe i'm going to install with stock muffler after christmas..
it's funny i thought car needed tune up, valves adjusted, etc . the car ran ok just thought it lacked some balls. i just bought this car in june 2011 and this is the best money i have spent on it. i am not sure about hp gain, i think there is a small one, but the overall low end, mid range drivebility is excellent. i was not trying to start a post on who makes the best chip. i do not have any dyno numbers etc. i do not track my car either. but if you just want your car to drive, run ,perform better the - 3k5 POWERPROM chip from FR WILKS is a true value 125.00 shipped. he also has other chips. |
