Porsche Crest Porsche Clubs

I do not know how Porsche clubs work, I use to live in Utah and my dad sales Porsche's there so I knew all the Porsche people I needed to know. I have recently moved to the Bay Area and I am thinking about joining a club. Is there a lot of different types of clubs? Or they are just general all (model) Porsche clubs? Is there a club for crazy enthusiasts and a club for the guy that enjoys the way it makes him look? I looked up PCA and there are a few different chapters around N. California. Is there a cost to join? Annual membership fee? I know Porsche's but I know nothing about clubs? Help me?

If you want to join PCA, which is probably the largest Porsche club by membership, in the Bay area it is $45 a year (I believe it is still that price if not it's $47) and once you join you'll be a member in Zone 7 and you pick the region you live in to be a member of that region. You don't say where in the Bay area you live but you have several choices Golden Gate Region which is great for AX and DE (track), Loma Prieta (sorry don't know much about them, Diablo (ditto) Redwood which is heavy on wine tours and AX, Sacramento Valley for AX and tours. You can also choose your region and be a dual member of another region and you can always participate in any Zone or region events. Some regions will charge you a fee to be a dual member. It really depends on where you live, how far you want to drive for events and what you want to participate in. The PCA website is a good source of info as is the Golden Gate Region's site.
There are other organizations of sports car owners that do various activities such as racing and concours. If you go to the track and AX section here on Pelican you can find posts for other groups and how to contact them.
Hope this helps.
Just noted you are in Brentwood which I believe is in Diablo region. Try their site for info.

The Bay Area has a huge PCA club. Just go onto the national PCA site and join PCA. From there, the PCA will forward your info to The Bay Area Region (I believe it's the Golden Gate Region). Someown from the club will contact you.

My club (Sequoia Region) is in the same Zone 7 as the Bay Area. There are tons of events, dinners, road trips, auto-x, etc... You basically just pic what interests you. I've met tons of new friends since joining my club.

Thank you so much for the info.
I do live in Brentwood which is East Bay. So what if I join "diablo" but another one of the clubs listed is better? I would be willing to drive another 10 or 20 miles if I would like it more. I guess "better" is pretty vague... nevermind. So I go to PCA website and sign up for the one that is in my "zone"? Do the different zones communicate and have events together or are they like rival gangs? I am only saying that half joking. Thank you

Although the different regions do not necessarily communicate a lot, I hear about zone events all the time. There's also a Zone 7 website that has various activities for each region. I mostly do stuff in my own region because we have a great club. however, many of our members go to track days and driver's ed in the other regions because we don't have our own race track here in the Fresno area. I personally am looking forward to going to a Button Willow track day in the next couple of months.

here's the badge on my car - it has all the clubs listed in Zone 7:

Thank you.
I was just in Fresno last week at the In laws, they just moved down there from Concord.
Sorry I have only been in N. California for a couple of years so I get excited when I have been places people talk about.

Okay wait I misspoke. Do the different regions (region 7) get together for big events, because they are all so close? I meant regions not zones in my early post.

When we lived in the South Bay area of LA we were "assigned" to the Grand Prix region because of our address. GREAT region but we quickly became dual members with the other regions around LA....LA region, Orange Coast, San Diego region and Riverside. I'm sure you can still do this sort of thing in the Bay area too.....belong to all of the regions!

Our region (Sequoia) mostly does things locally. However, we hosted a Zone 7 Auto-x last year and Oktoberfest party. Many people from the Bay Area came to Fresno for this. Some of our club members go to other region's events (like auto-x and DE). Our club has an annual road trip to Mammoth and we meet up with the Nevada Boxter Club.

So, to answer your question - most clubs have local events but the you can pretty much attend any event that is on the Zone 7 website. We hare happy to have anyone come on our road trips (which is about every month) and our Auto-x (which we have abouyt 8 per year). We even invite SCCA and many people come from that group. We're very social.
