Question Weltmeister strut brace question

For those of you who have installed Weltmeister strut braces...

I bought a used one from a gentleman in Vermont a while back and I want to go ahead and install it on my car.

Only problem is, it didn't come with the four shock tower allen bolts that I believe the new kit comes with.
So, my question is this:

Do I need to somehow find a set of "special Weltmeister Allen bolts" or will the stock bolts do fine?

The only thing that keeps getting me is the fact that the flange/bracket of the strut brace is so thin, I can't see why it would be a requirement to install longer bolts... unless the bolts barely thread into the towers or something.
Can anyone point me in the right direction?

I would think you will need some longer ones. You should be able to find these at your local hardware store (provided they have some metric ones).

Mine were about twice as long as the shock tower metal (weltmeisters shock tower mount thingy) thickness.

Good Luck.

I installed the AJUSA strut brace and used the original bolts. No problem after 3 years.

Install them with the old bolts and then check underneath with a flashlight for full bolt engagement. I have this on my car. The plate in not that thick but may not be perfectly flush with the metal underneath at times.

Here's the WM instructions since you got it used. I'm sure you can figure it out, don't mean to imply that you can't. Just thought the diagram might be helpful since it specifies the hardware sizes.

Wow KTL,
That is exactly what I needed.

This board blows my mind at times.
I'll give it a shot this weekend with Cary.

We'll just have to see how well the plates sit on the towers...

.... they might need a little "nudging"??

Thanks guys,

Porsche Crest Bolts

Leland,
I just ran into the same problem with my Camber Truss installation. There is a store right next door to my work that stocks all the sizes....they are hardened, metric bolts. Let me know if you want me to send you a few. The post is next door too. What a country!
