Answer: very hot.

It will rise to the temperature of the 180-230 degree oil inside it. But unless you've got a pyrometer, knowing just how hot it is isn't going to be very easy.

Hotter than Mc'Donald's pre-lawsuit coffee ... would be perfectly normal on a warmed-up engine at idle! Ever touched the bare magnesium block (or dipstick) of a VW Beetle engine with your bare fingers after you pull in for gas on a long trip in August in Arizona or West Texas? You can brand yourself with a second-degree burn very easily! Beetle engines make 911 engines seem lukewarm by comparison!
