“The Other Woman”
Time to introduce myself and my new project, which my wife of 30 years refers to as “The Other Woman”.
1973 911T 2.4 CIS. Date of manufacture 7/73. Original paint code 415-9-2 Sepia Brown. You could call it a “barn find”, but it was our own barn. We parked it there over 6 years ago. It was in another guy’s barn before that since 1989. Lots of mud daubers, cats, rats, and I don’t want to know what else lived there. Now that the kids are all off to college and we are not always working on THEIR 4 wheelers, dirt bikes, and go-karts, we finally moved MY project from the barn to the garage. Hoping to go for an RSR look, but plan to drive it routinely and not race it. If I had to guess, this is a 3-5 year spare time project for me. Probably more, but I’m in no hurry. Just love the process. All the great projects and threads posted here have been extremely helpful and I already recommend Wayne’s 101 projects book as required reading. Picture in the garage after it's first real bath. ![]() ![]() Picture in the barn (how did I let this happen?) ![]()

Welcome to the forum... looks like a great project and a great car. Just like women... if you leave them alone to long they will leave you and then get new H4's... if you know what I mean. Happy Thanksgiving

Looks Great...+1 to service her and get her running and drive. I suggest you keep her as is. I too was going to go the RS or likes route but original really does start to look real good and you're already there.
Cheers

Wow, amazing transformation just from the cleaning. Did you have it open like that in the barn all of the time? What's with the tree trimmings? Something building a nest?
Congrats on your project.

Just get it running. Enjoy the car then upgrade it. You'll enjoy it so much more.
I sold my newer 911 and bought a big project job. I really miss those canyon runs!

Thanks for the welcomes and the encouragement.
Steve, the car has been all closed up the entire time, but there was a PACK RAT in it when we opened it up. The wiring harness is shot. Unfortunately there is a lot to do to just get it running. Good news: The car is 100% there (well it is missing one of those little chrome caps for the windshield washer sprayer, but everything else is there) Bad news: Rockers, hopefully, just outers, but I’m not too optimistic. G'day!

Rick,
Welcome to PP and great to see your car! You see so many early 911's modified - it is refreshing to see one left original. That would be my vote for your car, even if it were not returned to the factory colour. Also - it would retain MUCH more value down the road. Here is my Tangerine, before I sold her last year. Also a '73 2.4 coupe - but a Euro with Zeniths... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Good luck, have fun, and please keep us posted! ![]()

The Les Paul was a honey burst Standard Faded with 6 coats of Virtuoso Polish...the guy I sold it in (in London) has turned it into a Greenie, named after Peter Green. He put in Bare Knuckles with one reversed, vintage pickup covers and wiring, etc.
The one I've kept is the third from the left. It's a Ron Kirn Tele made of 105 year-old barn pine. Ron makes everything by hand and winds his own pickups. It is an incredible sounding guitar. The Tele with the Bigsby is the last one for sale...it's a 2004 Fender CIJ (Japanese), double bound three tone sunburst with Fralin pickups. Also a really nice guitar...I'm just not playing anymore.

It has been a month, and it’s time for an update.
A lot has happened since the last post, but the pace is still not nearly as fast of other projects posted here. Some of you guys are really fast! Here is the list: removed trunk and engine lids, gas tank, doors, fenders, seats, dash cover, air conditioner, bumpers, windows, steering wheel, gauges, and battery boxes. So far so good. Even the shifter knob came off without damage. The dash cover required the 101 projects book though. Whew! Next onto dropping the engine and more scraping and grinding of undercoating. Fun fun! Floor coating removed. ![]() Battery boxes removed. ![]() Dash cleared out. All but the last bits of the harness. Just waiting to number a few more wires. ![]() Overall status picture. ![]()

Its coming along nicely. That pack rat deal is heartbreaking, once you get a new harness installed. Wow all new wires and connectors, plus really getting to know your cars electrics++.
Keep on posting Cheers Richard |

Nice work! Don't worry about the clock; go at the pace that gets things done right for you.

Must be my cars sister. Also 7/73. Sand, drill, grind, weld, grind, paint, repeat. One section at a time.
I sold the 1986 3.2l I was using and took mine apart this summer for a little touch up work. Due to budget constraints, I hope to have it on the road in a couple of years. Orignial engine, tranny, and suspension being refreshed also. I'm going back to matching numbers setup. ![]() ![]()

Ed, the "one section at a time" advice is rock solid. This whole project is a little overwhelming. I'll be checking back with you on the front end work. Looks like you've already been through what I have in store.
Right now I'm trying to decide if I drop the engine alone, or the engine and tranny together. Tough little nut to get to up on top of the starter.

For me having the right tool, a pointy object to clean out the bolts and some PB Blaster was all I needed for the axels. I dropped and reinstalled the engine and tranny by myself with a floor jack, a furniture dolly and a bunch of big wood blocks for security. Shawn
