Karman Coupe VS Porsche Coupe

Is there a difference in value between the 911 karman coupes and the 911 porsche coupes?
There is a karman coupe 911 car coming up for auction up here.
Thanks

There is! Though I like the look of the Karmans more. Fewer were built and lots back in the day got converted to cabs. But still seem to be less desirable than the "Porsche" cars. A sunroof option in either makes them even more desirable.
BTW we have a '62 T6 non-sunroof coupe.

What year and model are you looking to buy? As far as 911s are concerned IIRC the T bodies were build by Karman.

The OP is talking about 911s, not 356. Karmann made 911s and 912s from 1965 to 1971, including base 911s, 911Ts, and some 911Es (I owned a '70 Karmann 911E). In 1971 Karmann dedicated all production to the 914 to meet demand.

There is no difference in value, as they are identical with some very minor exceptions, like the underside of the front hood being a different texture.

Hope this helps,

Jay

I was told by ‘authoritative sources’ that the Karmann built 911s were ‘better’ than the Reuter (Porsche) bodies.
Apparently Karmann was ‘deathly afraid’ of a car not passing Porsche’s ‘incoming inspection’ and being sent back for re-work.
So … they built them the best possible. More spot-welds to more inspections.

The ‘authoritative sources’ were Porsche Factory engineers and executives.

I pointed out to Dr. Porsche (sitting in my passenger seat) that my 911 was Karmann built. His response; “Aah yes, very good. Yes?”
Yes.

Best,
Grady

My '65 912 is Karmann built and my '65 911 is Porsche built. Unfortunately they've both suffered some serious damage from the PA salt monster so it's tough to compare and differentiate.

Pointed out to Dr. Porsche sitting beside you.
I think my question has been answered. Fact I know it has, thanks Grady.
