Distributor question. And msd

I got a couple issues, I just swapped a 77 3.0 turbo engine with harness into a 77 911. At the same time I installed msd ignition. First question is what kind if signal these cars use in the distributor? And which wires shoul be used from the msd? I have many new parts to my build so it's kinda complicated. Also the harness was close but not exact between the two engines. The turbo has a pin for the meter plate and the 911s has something external that I can't quite figure out but I'm guessing this is nothing to worry about? Engine has zero hours. I'm really pumped to get this sorted so where should I go first? Thanks.

I would start by using the search function. You will find answers to most of your questions and many install examples. Also, the MSD website has wiring diagrams.

regards,

Anyone noticed that google search works better for pelican bbs than pelican bbs? Funny, anyway, still confused but now it seems the distributor might be failing somehow.

To check whether your MSD setup is working correctly, search on "telegraph test".

The MSD website has good information on how to connect their units. You may need to provide more information, such as which MSD are you using and what are you using for a coil and distributor? Still using points?

The 77 turbo dizzy is a pulse generator system the 77NA 911 is points.

You have to wire the Dizzy to the MSD using the green and violet wires for magnetic pickups.

You will need either a SC tach, turbo tach or have your exsisting one converted for magnetic pick up.

MSD works wonderful and next issue will be the rotor swap, NBD just need to get to nappa. Telegraph test helped and showed the MSD worked, in the end the wire harness had a short that plauged me. Fixed it and all is well.
