AASE Motors or Nardi Motors?
Anyone work with any of the two shops? I searched but could not find, only got responses for Nardi Steering wheels. I am looking to replace all my suspension bushings, and do an alignment, clutch cable adjustment etc... Which one do you recommend, I know TRE is the way to go in SO Cal, but I live on the opposite end of LA right now in Downey and I want to establish a good relationship with a credible shop near my home.
p.s. I have been going to Roger's Eeropean Engineering in Downey for the last few years and I am just sick and tired of his horrid work. BEWARE OF THIS SHOP. He will fix things half assed so you have to keep coming back for him for more work. Thanks, Sammy

I'd recommend taking your car to Johnson's Alignment in Torrance for the suspension work and I'd throw in a corner balance for good measure. Steve Alarcon knows his stuff when it comes to these cars. I've had two 900 series cars set up there and they both turned out great. I've heard good things about Aase's shop too for engine work. A friend of mine had them put a front fender oil cooler in his Carrera and they did a nice job. They also pointed out a brake problem that another shop missed. Just my $.02 worth.

I think Steve Alarcon (Johnson's) is a engine customer of Jeff's (Aase Motors) I believe Jeff has quite a bit of success in the club racing and is a great guy to boot.

You may also want to check out Steve's Independent in Orange (91 and the 57). They did all of what you are looking to do on my 69 911T for a very reasonable price. PM me if you are interested in the details and price and stuff...

What I really want is a shop close to me, within 15 miles that I can develop a solid relationship with, a guy I can trust that knows my name etc... How about Red Line Service in Long Beach? Does anyone know about this place, looks good from the website. Red Line Service

For any work that ends up needing a corner balance Johnson Alignments is THE place I go. (BTW - there is a 2nd "Johnson Alignment" in Torrance. You want the one on Hawthorne.) The price is reasonable and the work is perfectly tailored to my needs and wishes. - Another plus with Johnson is Callas Rennsport is next door and there is nothing they can't do but I would expect their prices to be closer to what Andial used to charge. One fun thing with Tony Callas is he has great home movies he made at Le Mans when he won as crew chief a few years ago and they often play them in the shop. He is also a great guy to talk to if he has time.

Quicksilver: I am aware of Scott's too, and while they do unbelievably incredible work, their prices definitely reflect it. If I had the cash I would without a doubt take my car to them. Steve's Independent, which is off Lincoln and Glassell, does great work, very honest, and seems to be a perfect fit for the budget I have to work with.

Both these guys really know their stuff. Jeff Erickson (Aase) has always gone way out of his way to help me with spare parts or advice when I've been working on a car at the track. You can't go wrong bringing your car to either of these shops!

I had a bad experience with Nardi Motors. They had a car for sale on consignment there. I went to see the car and made a deal with the owners son. When I called to go down to drive the car, the owner said that Nardi Motors was buying the car. I called up Nardi Motors and gave him crap about snaking the deal away. He finally realized it was wrong and said I could buy the car. Then when I went down to drive the car and buy it, I couldn't drive the car and had to go on a test drive with Nardi Motors driving the car. He said the car was good because of the way it drove. I took his word for it. I had cash for the car and then the owner said he didn't trust me and made me go to a bank for a cashiers check. It was one of the most unpleasant experiences I have ever had in purchasing a car. Just my $.02. Let a word to the wise be sufficient.

Aase Motors is great. Jeff and Allan do killer work. The amount of VARA cars running Allan built motors and the amount of POC cars running Jeff and/or Allan built motors speak for themselves.
If the shops work holds up well to racing then it will be above and beyond what's needed for normal "spirited" driving. |

I've watched AASE built/maintained cars pass me like I was standing still at a variety of So Cal racetracks. They know what they're doing.

Jeff Erickson is moving to new digs, probably right after the Willow Springs club race this weekend. I believe it is pretty close to the old shop and I understand his customers are helping him move. He is a great guy and well appreciated for his knowledge.

I really know nothing of Nardi, other than they were in Whittier for years, but now are just down the street from me in La Habra?
Aase Motors is one class act! They've worked on my car exclusively for the last 3 years. Honest, very reasonably priced, and have saved me countless $$$ and headaches! Allan's engine and trans rebuilds are of no comparison! Of course, Jeff and Steve are incredibly talented too! While there are many decent Porsche mechanics out there, few shops have this level of proven competence and loyal following! Go where the hard working Club Racer's go... You won't be disappointed...

I just recieved the flyer that Aase Motors is moving to a bigger and better shop. It will have a clean room for motor/trans building too. Congrats Jeff and Allan!
