Thumbs up Now I have heat and my idle is better

I was working on replacing the broken heater cable and noticed the heater hoses to the flapper boxes had some serious issues.

Replaced them the the 2 1/2 inch aircraft hose and during this mornings 20 degree drive I was roasting.

Also, I been having an issue with the idle sometimes occilating while sitting at a light and then a few minutes later it would be fine.

I wonder if the heat escaping from the hoses on the drivers side was affecting the 02 system and vacuum hoses that travle overhead,

I dont see how this would effect running.....maybe you bumped the ground strap and it makes contact now? Nice to have heat

Maybe the CIS is enjoying the fridid cold dry air.

Old hoses were only 8 years old.

Hmmm... Very interesting and glad you got your problem solved. Funny how one thing can affect another.

BTW, where did you pick up the aircraft hose? From our host?

If these are where I think they are (near clutch) then they are (or should be) fairly isolated from the motor intake - but yea...cool air = better...but that is the opposite of your findings...

hard to believe the motor area would get warm sitting at a light....there is a large hole above it

I like that it runs better....how about? bumped the O2 sensor and knocked the soot off it

Ed,

I have the car set up rinning with the o2 sensor disconnected.

Maybe the disconnected plug end sitting on the cooling tin was getting hot.

If that's the case, I am pulling mine out and setting it on something hot...I have been chasing a "surging" issue for a couple months :grr:

Wear some good goggles.

All sorts of crud fell onto my face when I pulled off the old hoses.

The ends of the flapper boxes had a bit of rust but there is enough metal to hold the new hoses for a while.

Also, the spring wire in the new hoses does a great job keeping pressure on the connections.
