Intermittent shifter vibration

Hi,

I have an 89 Cab with about 115K. Drives and shifts fine but I am starting to get a vibration in the shifter around 3K RPM. If I put my hand on the shifter the vibration and metallic sound stops. From searching I am thinking it is the shift/coupler bushing since I think it is still the original. My real question is does that seem logical or is it a symptom of something else that I am missing.

Thanks

Is it just in a certain gear? If so, shift coupler needs to be slightly tweaked to relieve pressure of riding against the gate in that gear. That was my problem, In 4th gear starting at about 3K rpm.

hope this helps,

Bill

Regardless of the cause of the issue if your bushings are original you should replace them. I would be willing to bet if they were that old they could be part of the issue. The job is easy and can be a big improvement on shifting.

Regards
Dave

I was thinking that replacing was probably the best option, now I just have to figure out which replacement to order.

Any suggestions - it seems that the OEM kit has everything I would need, the WEVO looks cool but a bit overkill for what I need and I am not looking to add more noise.
