Mystery wires under passenger seat

Can you guys please throw me a guess as to what these three wires might have possible been connected to in 1984? I found them under the passenger seat (running from under dash - terminating below the seat rail in this beautiful industry-standard electrical finishing technique) in my '84 Targa 3.2. I've been through the board and my Haynes book wiring diagrams (I need better glasses!) with no joy. - Rich

Think I may need better glasses to as I am finding it quite difficult to see the wires. Perhaps a picture of the wires would help but as a swag do you have a powered passenger seat? If not then one of the harness is for the powered seat but that is just a wild a@@ guess.

Is it not just power and G. for a seat and a seat belt warning? What else? Bentley Power Dist. Diagram for 86-89 shows a violet wire only, for "seat belt control", and of course red and brown for power and ground. I believe that someone once had a power seat in your car, and they installed and used these wires. Further look tells me the ends/connectors are not stock, look rather krappy, so I'd guess the wires are an afterthought as well. Probably took the power seats out before you bought the car. I'd go beat 'em up... Edit: ...the clincher is this: you have a manual passenger seat, I'll bet...

Those look aftermarket to me. I've never seen spotted wires on a Porsche, only striped. None of those exist in my '86 Carrera.

Try tracing them back to their origin and that may provide a clue.

Oh - I'll certainly trace 'em down in due time and give you guys the origin of those wires. But isn't this more fun? Heck, I just learned that Porsche didn't use spotted wires, just striped. Who knew? Glad I asked. As soon as I stop dinking with some higher priority fixes one of these nights, I'll post the "answer." - Rich

If they were for a seat, I would hope you find a fuse at the end, or maybe inline, 25a. EDIT: for 2 seats. For the other conductor, if it's for 'seat belt control' (buzzer?), only 1 or a couple amps, but again, were they fused at all? I think I'd check other 'questionable' wiring heading out from your fuse box too, frankly....just in case. Fuse box of course will tell you what should be there, as I'm sure you know. Likely this is a minimal thing in your car, with not too many wires just 'pasted in place' here and there to gain 12 volts....fused or not.

These color code markings are very similiar to the very early 911's.

Certainly not stock '84 wiring.

Have a look at this link.
