3.6 conversion - 993 engine hanger question
Would these 1.4-in offset adapters for the 993 hanger - courtesy of Rick (silver911rdb)* - work for putting a '95 3.6 into an '85 Carrera with a 915, rather than bending it? Going to a single pulley, but the 3.2 hanger's nixed as A/C's staying.
Or is some other offset required - one 3.6 conversion pic in these forums showed a different, smaller (≈1/2-in) bent offset. *I found Rick's post (#16) at http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-911-technical-forum/541780-let-3-6-fun-begin.html and below is a drawing I made using Rick's original sketch (hope posting this drawing was OK, Rick) Thanks folks! http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1325882079.jpg |
I just bent mine and welded a reinforcement on the back of each side, worked great for me,
I was going to go the adapter route, but it was no prob to bend and weld -vs- having the adapters made. |
Here's what they look like installed.

Uwanna, my thanks to you! It was seeing these same pics of your hanger a month ago (followed the link in your post in that link I quoted above) that set me off in that direction - really like the idea! I was completely content this was the way to go until seeing some conversion pics showing a smaller offset on the hanger, so it's really the amount of offset I'm worried about. Both your cars, and the others here I can find where pics are posted, appear to be earlier 911 tubs - 74 thru 80 - and I just want to make sure my later car requires the same offset. It may just be the different offset is for cars using a G50, or something else NA to my conversion. I have a machinist buddy I'm trading favors with, and he's going to make the adapters and weld it all up with the one-piece Rennline reinforcement gusset (see their pic below), I just want to make sure on the offset before he goes to town! http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1325887543.jpg |
it's good to have friends with skills!
