'85 O2 sendor wiring (possible high idle) question

'85 3.2 has high idle issue (2000rpm). If I load the engine by letting out of clutch while in gear the idle comes down with load and will stay down (but never below 1200rpm)

Recently replaced cat with bypass and when removing O2 sensor one of the two wires that were attached came off (wires were spliced) and I do not know how it was connected...but fact remains that only two of three wires were ever connected. New by-pass does have a bung for O2. The wires out of my sensor are one black, and two white wires - this does not match my wiring diagram which suggest yellow (to DME relay), brown (to ground) and green (to DME). It looks like two wires were connected to a two pin plug and the third to a single pin coming out of a small cylinder type connector. Which wire goes where? How do I differentiate between the white wires from the sensor (or does it matter)

Is this possibly related to my high idle or will that problem likely still exist?

Thanks All.

The o2 sensor is 1 wire, the 2 other wires are o2 sensor heating wires to bring the sensor up to temperature quicker when cold starting.
Your idle speed is handled by the icv, idle control valve. The dme adjusts the idle automatically when the micro switch on the throttle body is closed. Sometimes the icv just needs to be cleaned of carbon deposits, or the micro switch is not closing properly.
The base idle is set by putting a jumper in the test port on the rear electrical panel, disabling the icv, and manually setting the idle.
