964 gas gauge in 911
I installed a set of 964 gauges into my 911 SC today and have everything working except for the gas gauge. I'm using the 964 adapter (part # 964.641.081.00) and modified the sending unit as described by ischmitz in an older post but still don't have a working gauge. Has anyone else done this mod and have a better description of how to modify the sending unit?
Thanks,

Is there anyone who has done this modification and has it working? I need a few details on how to modify the sending unit.
Thanks,

Mike,
Start by posting the link to ischmitz. Post the working of the 964 ‘adaptor’ Post images (or links) for the wiring for your year 911SC and original for the 964 gauge. What is the ‘modification’ to the sending unit. Best, Grady

Grady,
Here is the link that I used: Weeee, new 964 gauges for my SC!!!! This shows the schematics. Part of my issue may be where to make the cuts and jumps on the actual sending unit. Thanks,

I sent the gauge to North Hollywood Speedometer and they recalibrated it to work with the original sending unit. Works great!

Did not need the black box. They calibrated it to work with the stock SC sending unit that came in my car.

I was curious about using 964 gauges in my car and submitted a post a few years ago. I got replies like: "why would you want to do this".
Well -- the 964 gauges light up a lot better for one thing. I did install some led bulbs in my stock gauges which made them a lot better. Don't the 964 gauges have all those warning lights etc? You would probably leave those disconnected. I wonder if there would be a way to hook all those up in an earier car?

JTL,
In most cases they are just lights and you can hook up the ones you want and leave the rest disconnected. I really like the lighting on the 964 gauges.
